There are 3 main reasons why Jayapura won’t support significantly to this event. First, Jayapura is well known as remote area region. Therefore the facilities in order to support this event will be more difficult. Facility, is the factor that will consider on how the event be successful or not. Therefore, it needs a complete, appropriate, in high standard quality of facilities.
Second, as the remote area region, the security in Jayapura is not very stable. A big sport event as PON should be hold in region which the political situation is well kept. Because it is never possible to held an event with bad security. if something happen during the realization of PON, there will be many loss caused by unwise decision. First, the government will be considered as fail organizer, in which society will lose their trust to government. Second, the event of PON will be threatened erased, delayed or considered in future, which means it will give bad impact to the creativity of the athletes.
Third, Jayapura is well known as developed region that needs a lot of fund in order to build their region. Although actually the fund is given by the Government of Indonesia, but somehow to be a home executor it also needs a lot of expends. I believe that it is better for Jayapura or Papua to relocate the fund for another urgent case for example education, poverty, public health and etc.
The conclusion is to be a home executor of a big sport event as PON, it needs to be a region that with high standard of living.
